Em <strong><em>1923<\/em><\/strong>, ap\u00f3s problemas com d\u00edvidas e vagas, a diretoria do <strong><em>America<\/em><\/strong> resolveu abrir m\u00e3o do Estadual como forma de protesto. Foi a\u00ed que surgiu a ideia de convidar o presidente do <strong><em>Internacional<\/em><\/strong>, <em>Arc\u00e9sio Guimar\u00e3es<\/em>, para unificar os <strong><em>dois times<\/em><\/strong> e criar uma nova pot\u00eancia no futebol paranaense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um ano e muitas reuni\u00f5es depois, as duas diretorias conseguiram entrar em acordo quanto \u00e0 <em>cor do uniforme<\/em> e <em>escudo (que existiu por cerca de uma d\u00e9cada)<\/em> do novo time e deram aperto de m\u00e3o final, que selou a uni\u00e3o de <strong><em>Am\u00e9rica<\/em><\/strong> e <strong><em>Internacional<\/em><\/strong>.
